Job Description:

Southern Cross Austereo is all about delivering absolutely engaging entertainment solutions across an unrivalled portfolio of multimedia brands with the biggest shows, best talent and most exciting events across Australia. As our newest Video Journalist (Grade 1), you will be responsible for creating content for our nightly television news bulletin. You will relish the challenge of waking up every day to hunt down great local news stories, talking to local people and making a difference.

The successful applicant will have:

  • The “news goods” and self-confidence to deliver two local packages a day from Port Pirie
  • A strong focus on delivering quality local news content and a passion for the role
  • An eagerness to embrace the technical task of being able to shoot your own vision and interviews, edit and voice your own packages under the pressure of a daily deadline
  • A solid understanding of story structure.
  • An ability to work largely unsupervised and be content to do so

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a broadcast journalism degree, and a current drivers’ license. Whilst a basic knowledge of shooting/editing will be looked upon favourably, we will provide training in the operation and maintenance of a camera kit and desktop editor program, to get you started.
