Job Description:

We are looking for a full time creative Copywriter for our award-winning in-house agency here at our Headquarters in greater Kansas City. Portfolio must demonstrate creative excellence, as well as superb copywriting ability for traditional, social and corporate communications. Needs a thorough understanding of paid and organic social media; how it works and how to write for it. Needs to show an aptitude and/or a passion for the markets Garmin serves – fitness, outdoor, marine, auto and aviation.
  • Team up with an art director to develop creative concepts for traditional, digital, video and social media content
  • Ability to work with different teams within marketing communications, including web, social media, campaign and video
  • Familiarity with the latest social media ad platforms on Facebook, Instagram, etc. with ability to extend traditional campaigns into these channels
  • Join brainstorm sessions to discuss ideas to engage Garmin customers on various platforms
  • Produce persuasive copy targeting various Garmin market segments
  • Produce content for corporate communication needs, including recruitment, events and investor relations
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our products in order to concept and write videos for specific products and product groups
  • Write promotional copy for use by dealers in support of their websites and catalogs


  • Remain current on the features and benefits of the complete Garmin product line
  • Work across departments with social media team, PR team and sponsorship team to create integrated campaigns
  • Natural ability to present creative and passionately sell ideas to business segments
  • Remain current on market trends and observe competitive advertising
  • Accept and complete projects and other duties as assigned by manager
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Advertising, English or related degree or a field relevant to the essential functions of this job description and a minimum of 1 year copywriting experience in an ad agency, in-house marketing team or similar environment. Other requirements include:
  • Must possess strong and effective writing skills
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with Adobe Suite programs
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Must possess demonstrated strong presentation skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
