Are you a Technical Writer with the ability to turn important concepts into useful written documents? JBA is looking for a Business Analyst / Technical Writer to join the Technology, Data and Software Development (TDSD) teams. Our TDSD teams undertake specialist system, software and data development for the natural and built environment. We typically work with central government, environmental, transportation and utility organisations, and private companies. They work with us because of our reputation in providing innovative and novel solutions. As a Business Analyst / Technical Writer for JBA you will be required to gather requirements from our clients and / or our technical project staff and convert these concepts into usable documents. We run traditional and agile projects, so you will be asked to create traditional Business Requirements, Detailed Functional Specifications in Microsoft Office applications depending on the specific requirements format, or system level requirements in the style of user stories, with acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps (training provided if needed). Location: This role could be based at any number of our UK offices, although the majority of our TDSD staff are based in our Skipton (BD23 3FD) or Wallingford (OX10 9BS) offices, so some ad-hoc travel to these offices should be expected if you are remote from them. JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work, and this role could be full-time or part-time. Qualifications and experience We are looking for a Business Analyst / Technical Writer with robust experience of working in a technical environment. It is essential that candidates possess the ability to understand complex concepts quickly, and to think holistically whilst not overlooking the wider strategic context. Candidates should have the following core skills: Excels at working in an open and collaborative way to gather business and technical requirements from most senior level to junior. An excellent communicator (orally and written) who can develop and present detailed requirements to be used by all project staff, and our end users and clients. Desirable skills and traits: Some development and database experience. Experience of Azure DevOps. Experience in developing Behavioural Driven Development (BDD) Gherkin style user stories and acceptance criteria. A willingness to help maintain a library of documentation for our systems. A willingness to help manage content for our intranet Biomes (intranet sites), reporting to various discipline leads.
