No wardrobe turns over as quickly as a child’s. A change of season means dressing for new temperatures but also new sizes—as winter ends, shopping for spring clothes for kids begins. But this year, not only have the seasons changed, at long last our country is taking steps toward reemergence. It’s been a while since you were out and about with your little one, or perhaps you’re showing your baby the world for the very first time. In either case, they deserve a very great outfit for their grand debut.

Dress them in cheery prints; we like a sunny palm-tree-splashed design from Stella McCartney or a pineapple-laden romper from Paz Rodriguez. On their feet, Hunter’s classic yellow rain boot comes in a kid-friendly size, as does a pair of Vejas.

(Both lend themselves to a mommy-and-me moment, should you desire.) Going somewhere extra special? They’re going to need something with a bit of pint-size polish. Maison Me’s Lily ruffled blouse will lend a lovely flare, and for the boys, a gingham shirt and shorts set will do the trick. They’ll also need clothes to sit poolside, or if they’re swimming, in the water. For this, J.Crew’s floral ruffled rash guard is too precious.

Our edit of spring clothes for kids boasts playful prints, punchy colors, and lasting accessories sure to charm everyone on the playground.
