US Junior Highlight: Ted Li - 1 minute read

(by Steve Hopkins)

Ted Li has had a busy 2019.  The San Diego native has played in five USATT tournaments (gaining points in 4 of 5).  The 14-year-old has achieved a personal best rating of 2509.  At the Nationals this year, Ted’s record was 21-4.  This great result included first place in Cadet Boys, his age event.  Ted’s team won the Junior Boy’s Teams event.  In the Junior Boys’ Singles event, he reached the Quarterfinals and in the Men’s Singles event he lost in the Round of 16 (to eventual semifinalist Jishan Liang). A consistent performance, and great results.

He has had such a solid 2019 thus far, that it may be tough to continue the momentum.  But Ted Li will be trying to do just that as he prepares for the US Open – the next big opportunity for this rising star to make his presence felt in both Junior and Men’s events.
