Puerto Rico to host inaugural open international tournament - 1 minute read

Staged in January 2012, the Convention Centre the venue, the Sheraton hotel some 100 yards distant providing the accommodation, the 2011 ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals and ITTF World Cadet Challenge were successfully organised by the Puerto Rico Table Tennis Federation.

It was the last occasion both events were held simultaneously; now in the same venue there will be a first; from Wednesday 28th July to Monday 2nd August, the Butterfly 2021 Puerto Rico Open will be organised.

Located near the port, the harbour a favourite destination for cruise ships; a small local airport adjacent for those brave enough to fly in small propeller driven aircraft, the Convention Centre is a state-of-the-art facility, the overall dimensions sufficient for a World Championships.

A successful venture now over eight years ago, more recently in Guaynabo, some 20 minutes distant by car, in both 2018 and 2019 the Universal Pan American Cup was staged. Again the events proved a great success, acclaimed by all.
