Puerto Rico Teams: PR Removes Restrictions, 5 Days Until March 20 Entry Deadline - 2 minutes read

(by Steve Hopkins)

As of March 10, Puerto Rico has removed all vaccination and testing requirements associated with flights (domestic/US flights) and with the venue.  This is welcome news for organizers who have been focused on putting the final touches on what promises to be one of the premiere table tennis events of this Spring.

The DiscoverPuertoRico.com site now states:

  • As of March 10th, domestic travelers are not required to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test prior to arrival to the Island.

American travelers will now have the same travel experience to Puerto Rico as they would have with other domestic travel within the United States.  International flights have stronger requirements (visit the website to review those requirements).

There are still 5 days to enter.  Get your team together and sign up by Sunday.  As of today, there are roundtrip flights available from Miami to San Juan for under $150, from New York for under $300, from Dallas for under $325, and from Chicago for a little over $400.  And for those of you in the Northeast still looking at forecasts of rainy 35 degree commutes to work – its going to be 84 and sunny today in San Juan.

The Extended Entry Deadline is March 20.

A softening of travel restrictions signals not just easier travel but also the belief by officials in Puerto Rico that COVID-19 is a diminishing threat.  And with masks no longer required (except for public transportation), visitors are more freely able to enjoy the public beaches, natural reserves, marinas, and the amazing food and other attractions that Puerto Rico has to offer.

We’ll see you at the tables in San Juan on April 8th.
