The year 1989 is where the story is set. Lisa Swallows, played by Kathryn Newton, is a shy adolescent who lives with her stepmother Janet, her cheerleading step sister Taffy, and her father Dale. Lisa's notion of a good time is hanging out at an abandoned cemetery, where she tends to the grave of a long-dead young guy. But then "the Creature" is struck by lightning during an odd storm, and he rises to life. After giving him a fast makeover, Lisa uses the resurrected body to get more thrills.
