Have you ever been to Cabarita Beach in NSW? While Australians are dreaming about domestic travel opportunities, I would like to share a personal story of a unique place in Australia, located on the NSW and QLD border - it’s Cabarita Beach, a suburb of Tweed Heads.

As a desperate, super curious and experienced traveller, with a desire to learn about new areas, the excitement of these two Aussie States with so many families holiday options, located back-to-back, drew my attention. Let me reveal the major reasons why you should visit Cabarita Beach! Here is the breakdown.

Location

Cabarita is a North-Eastern beach in New South Wales, close to Tweed Heads. The good news is that you might have an opportunity to spend your well-deserved holidays in both the Australian States, NSW and QLD. The area is located only 25 min from the Gold Coast Airport. Drive down to Tweed Heads, the “Twin town” of Coolangatta, park the car and stroll along the Esplanade.

You might find yourself quickly in Qld, Gold Coast and not even realise. To me, as a traveller, it’s a paradox when you can grab a coffee in NSW as a takeaway and accidentally spill it in QLD while viewing the unleashed and wild Pacific Ocean waves.

With your own car, you might want to explore the most popular beach in NSW- Byron Bay, only 49km from Cabarita beach! With so many sightseeing options, you will find Cabarita beach as a balance between NSW and QLD. The location of Cabarita Beach is oddly sensational, it has that laid back coastal vibe with all the action of the Gold Coast within easy reach!

Tropical Paradise

When it comes to choosing a family holiday in Australia, Queensland seems to be the most appealing because of its tropical white-sanded beaches, unlimited access to sun-bathing, relaxing atmosphere, options for snorkelling, surfing, seafood dining and of course, undeniably warmer temperatures year-round, when a jumper is rarely required.

Well, Cabarita beach in NSW without a doubt offered something else! It presents opportunities to sunbathe and also, do yoga or exercise, meditation in the local scenic lookouts. While soaking in the sun, you might spot whales migrating north and south. The area is well-known for Wollombin National Park, “a remnant central vent of an ancient volcano”. (Wikipedia, 2021). The most important part is a feeling of peace. It’s not crowded, polluted or overwhelmed with tourists. Dance on the sand if needs- and none will notice. Cabarita Beach is like a hidden gem offering a perfect day on the beach!

Despite Cabarita beach being considered as laid back, the Surf Life Savers club is operating. It’s a must-have service needed in the time of crisis. Therefore, not only is Cabarita beach clean, roomy and relaxing but also, safe. By the way, are you a surfer, beginner or professional? Spot a variety of age groups surfing in Cabarita Beach. Join in when visiting.

Dining

The unique part about the area is its smaller community. Yet, you might be up for a surprise to dining options. Focus on quality and menu variety rather than the number of local cafes and restaurants with long waiting lists. The top pick would be Cabarita Beach hotel, or local cosy dining options if you prefer something different. Just like salmon in Japanese style, or delicious steak. Perhaps you travel with kids asking for fish and chips and craving ice cream? The pub, Cabarita Beach Hotel, offers a variety of food for fussy eaters and seafood lovers.

Are you a coffee addict? You might want to get up earlier and grab a quick takeaway just before watching the sunrise. The coffee cosy corner is just next to Cabarita Beach Hotel. Nothing beats this energising beverage early morning or even afternoon. Life is for living. Don’t you agree?

Accommodation

The success of Beach style holidays relies heavily on accommodation at the beach! In a perfect situation, you want to blink and find your thongs filled in with whiter sand, while catching the sound of the ocean! This is what makes your beach holidays stands out and easy.

The accommodation we chose was The Beach Cabarita, located perfectly right on the beach.

If you stay at The Beach Cabarita, you can have lots of heated pool time, a tropical vibe, spacious balcony for late picnics and wine. Enjoy the large kitchen and an apartment being well-sized for bigger families travelling with kids. The biggest winner is the hot spa corner for weary souls. Soak in the hot spa bath while enjoying the tropical palms resting along the side of the pool area. The most exciting part is a friendly community on the territory of the building. Since it’s a serviced-apartments building with a smaller reception area, you will be able to obtain basic assistance and possibly meet new friends. The central location of The Beach Cabarita offers lots of spaces for your car, with grocery shops across the road, cafes and more. Perfect!
