In Clearwater, Florida, Suncoast Flixtor revolves around a teenager named Doris. Her mother, Kristine, is a waitress who tends to be high-strung and insensitive. Doris's primary focus is taking care of her brother Max, who is both blind and terminally ill with brain cancer. As the story progresses, they make the decision to move Max to Suncoast Hospice, which coincidentally is the same facility where Terri Schiavo, who is in a vegetative state, is being cared for. Outside the hospice, there is a chaotic scene with a multitude of protestors and journalists.
