Anderson Cooper Set To Receive Almost All Of Gloria Vanderbilt’s Estate

Media personality Anderson Cooper is reportedly set to receive almost all of his mother’s estate.

Gloria Vanderbilt’s will, obtained by Page Six, specified that her Midtown apartment would be given to her eldest son, but “all the rest” of her property would be given to Cooper. Vanderbilt passed away from advanced stomach cancer June 17.

Cooper has been candid about not wanting any inheritance from his mother, who was estimated to have a net worth of $200 billion, according to a report published Tuesday by Page Six.

In 2014, the CNN host talked about his reasons behind not wanting an inheritance in an interview with Howard Stern. (RELATED: Fashion Icon And Socialite Gloria Vanderbilt Dies At 95)

“My mom’s made clear to me that there’s no trust fund. There’s none of that,” Cooper said at the time.

“I don’t believe in inheriting money … I think it’s an initiative sucker. I think it’s a curse,” he continued. “Who’s inherited a lot of money that has gone on to do things in their life? From the time I was growing up, if I felt like there was some pot of gold waiting for me, I don’t know if I would have been so motivated.”

Cooper is not wrong about that. Who wants to inherit money when you can make yourself and be self-made? It’s not cool to be a millionaire or billionaire through inheritance anymore.
