The Debut of Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II - 2 minutes read

Rolex once again takes the spotlight at Watches and Wonders Geneva, showcasing what it deems most noteworthy: the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II. What’s catching attention this time is the introduction of a new bezel variant, the first since the Lefty in 2022. The 2024 edition maintains the classic crown position but introduces a striking new color scheme: black and grey, complemented by a green GMT hand reminiscent of the 2022 Lefty model.

Despite its understated appearance, this new iteration stands out among the recent releases. It’s worth noting that there have been no discontinuations in the GMT-Master II collection, despite rumors to the contrary. Instead, the 2024 model expands the range of available variants to reportedly 14, including both Oyster and Jubilee bracelet versions of the new black and grey model. Although the internet has yet to settle on a nickname (though “Grey Ghost” has gained traction), the essence of the GMT-Master II remains unchanged.

Interestingly, the 2024 model may be one of the more accessible options from Rolex, contrasting with recent releases focused on precious metals and elaborate designs. Enthusiasts may be pondering the absence of the coke bezel, especially after its introduction in Tudor’s GMT model. Speculation abounds, but time will reveal more insights from experts and enthusiasts alike in the coming months.
