Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Hi, my name is Emanuel and I have some questions for you.
I consider myself an amateur intermediate player, that doesn’t practice too much (yet). I am playing on a local league with a Timo Boll S90 racket. I haven’t been playing for years and didn’t want to buy, straight away, an expensive blade.

Now that I am feeling more confident and comfortable with my technique coming back again, I want to invest on a personalized racket. The blade I am looking for is the Viscaria (I am interested on Freitas too, but due to my evolution level I was afraid that is to expensive and don’t get use to it), but I am not sure about the rubbers I should add to my blade. My style is trying to play with spin, close to the net. I do attack more often with my forehand, but I do still like to do some attacks with my backhand. I to use my backhand mainly to cut spin from my opponent and when I am under attack. Basically, I attack with my forehand and defend with my backhand.

Rhe rubbers that I am looking for are:
Forehand – Dignics 09C, Dignics 05 or Tenergy 05
Backhand – Impartial XS

I used to play with a rubber with pimples out and I liked it.
My question is if you could help me with the rubbers choice. Am I thinking right? Is there any better combination? What would you suggest?

Am I afraid these might be difficult for me to have control. My priority it is always a good spin, control and feeling.

Best regards,
Emanuel Pinho

Answer:

Hi Emanuel,

Both Dignics 05 and Dignics 09C are a little hard and the speed will probably be too fast.

If you want to have more control and feeling, I recommend you choose Tenergy 05. I have used it on my forehand side for so many years and I know how good it is.

I hope this is helpful!
