Love Island girls' 'gross' villa habit exposed by eagle-eyed fans

From beds to boyfriends there is a lot of swapping that goes down down in the Love Island villa.

And fans of the ITV2 dating show claim to have spotted an even more intimate level of exchanging going on as the series progresses.

Over the last few nights viewers have taken to social media to note that this year's female contestants appear to be swapping earrings between them nightly.

An enormous pair of crucifixes appears to be in popular demand with Molly Mae Hague and Belle Hassan proudly sporting them in recent episodes.

"It’s the way all the girls have recycled those crucifix earrings," one fan tweeted.

"I think when Francesca arrived she must have had a suitcase full of statement earrings in tow, the girls have been decked out in big Christmas baubles the last few days," observed another.

One fan even came up with a wild theory surrounding the jewels.

"Does anyone notice a sign of whenever the girls are wearing the cross earrings they are in danger?!!!" they asked.

"Am I the only one hating all these over-sized cross earrings?" queried another.

"What’s with the arts and crafts earrings the girls are wearing? Are they possessed by Pat Butcher?" another joked.

But more eagled-eyed fans out there have noticed that the earrings worn by Molly-Mae and Belle are slightly different in colour meaning they've been gifted their own pair.

Though in previous years the Love Island ladies have caused controversy by going as far as swapping swimsuits on the show.

Last year Rosie Williams and Ellie Brown sported the same gingham one piece swimsuit from House of CB in the villa.

It prompted a sexual health expert  to speak out and reveal that the innocent exchange could have serious consequences.

The health professional said that the girls could have passed sexually transmitted infections onto each other through their bikini bottoms.

While most STIs can't be passed on this way, certain ones, like public lice and scabies, can.

Natika H Halil, from sexual health charity FPA, told Fabulous magazine: "Most sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhoea, genital warts and genital herpes, can’t be passed on through the sharing of bikini bottoms.

"However, certain STIs, including public lice and scabies, could be passed from one wearer to the next. It’s recommended that you wash underwear and bikini bottoms on a hot wash before sharing with a friend."

For the 2019 series it was revealed that each contestant is treated each week to a suitcase packed full of new clothes and accessories for them to wear.

This year, retailer I Saw It First won the coveted contract of Love Island's official fashion partner.

PR Manager James Apsley-Thomas lifted the lid on how they keep the islanders looking their best during the show's many twists and turn.

He told The Sun: "Once a week, we as a brand drop off a bag of clothes with 15 things in that were new that week which is a tailor package for that girl. So between six girls, that's around 60-90 items we send in.
