I am Strong but I am Tired: Burnout

Can I relax today? I have no energy with a long “must do” list. So, Chop-chop, Me……

Mums’ days, they are always filled with unlimited tasks. We are cooks, psychologists, taxi drivers, teachers, businesswomen, BFF’s, wives, co-workers, partners and more. The question rises if Being busy is what we are living for? Is it worthwhile becoming Batwomen trying to do it all at once? State of Busy when you keep running around in those proverbial circles can lead to burnout, that has been described as a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It happens when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands”. (Burnout Prevention and Treatment, 2020).

As mums, we shouldn’t ignore symptoms of stress, anxiety, insomnia, lack of appetite and sadness. At the end of the day, stress and trauma can be damaging for you and the family (Stress and Trauma, AIHW, 2020).

Well, You are not alone, there is no need to struggle solo. We have ultimate support in this space. Claire Burt from My Inspired Lifestyle Project can help to break your Busy.

Anxiety, Stress, Insomnia underline mental health issues: Claire Burt is here to help

Meeting Claire

Claire Burt, Melbourne Lifestyle Coach and Mentor, wife and mum of two boys, designed a supporting burn out mum’s programme called My Inspired Lifestyle Project in 2019. Claire deeply believes that Mums mental health and self-care truly matter! Just like most of us, Claire experienced a stressful life when running the hamster wheel of the 9-5 corporate environment. Claire trusts that “you must bring your whole self to the table if you want to thrive in today’s crazy world; your personality, your sense of humour, and most importantly, your heart” (My Inspired Lifestyle Project website, 2020). Her new series of blogs focuses on women’s’ wellness, and reveals opportunities to discover who you truly are. Are you up for a change?!

Her new venture was born out of a strong desire to educate women in the community and assist in addressing the following issues:

  • How busy mums burn out can be managed?
  • How can we break the busy lifestyle down and find a balanced life?
  • How to start experiencing bliss?
  • How to stop stressing and focus on self-care?
  • How to be yourself?

In addition, Australian Business Ubizblog interviewed Claire Burt and discovered valuable insights on “Busy State of Mind”. Her infectious, outgoing personality, optimism and ambition to work on her goals, help other mums, found inspiration in the Australian community of mums wanting a change. Let me say that Claire is a strong woman with solid leadership skills, invincible and courageous.

So, why we should consider a lifestyle change?

Generally speaking, busy mums is the new trend, if we are not busy then we seem to be failing! Daily we meet someone, and the answer to “How are you today”? is “I am very busy”. I personally hardly hear “I am wonderful”! There are myths about the benefits of being busy. One of them referred to the fact that Busy means productive and effective. It’s a subject to personal acknowledgement that you are needed, gratitude from others, recognition. It’s an addiction, and it’s a subject to get a medal for the best Mum and the Best Worker (The Myth that Being Busy is a good thing, 2019).

Claire’s article about Burn Out and her personal experience confirmed the research insights. She explained that “by going to be a warrior and show everyone else how to be the best mum ever, the best manager, and school events guru brought her one day to feeling like a “broken woman” (Burn Out, My Inspired Lifestyle Project, 2020). When you keep giving, there is nothing left of you. The car can’t run on an empty tank; the glass is empty if the water has been poured out. It could be a time to pause, stop, with no Calendar running and think what “impact” you can make rather plotting through 9-5 “perfect” workday!
