Here's How Long You Have to Grab Snacks and Refuel For the Second Half of a Soccer Match - 1 minute read

How Long Is Halftime in Soccer?

Even if you're fairly new to soccer, you might find yourself glued to the nonstop action of the World Cup. The good news? There's a short halftime when you won't have to worry about missing yet another goal if you step away from the screen.

Soccer matches consist of two 45-minute halves, with a 15-minute break in between. It's a well-deserved breather, considering there are very few stops in play during the game. When there's an injury, for example, the clock continues to run, and the referee will tack on additional time to the end of the half. During the knockout stage of the World Cup, games can no longer end in a tie. If the score is still even at the end of the game, the teams will play an additional 30 minutes, split into two 15-minute periods with only about a minute in between, before moving on to a shoot-out.
