The story, which centres on a particular time in the protagonist's life, explores Marley's attempts to bring disparate groups in Jamaica together by organising a concert. But then there's the horrifying episode when he gets shot by an intruder who breaks into his house. Marley sends Rita and the kids to America to protect his family while he travels to London to record the renowned Exodus album. Marley's desire to go home never wavers, even in spite of his amazing accomplishment.
