Backstage at PFWM: Heron Preston SS20

To opening track “IGOR’S THEME” by Tyler, The Creator, Heron Preston sent models down the runway wearing lurid yellow and silky streetwear for his menswear show in Paris last week, borrowing from high-vis jackets and inspired by his home for the past two decades: New York.

Titled “The Concrete Jungle”, the collection elevated Preston’s signature sportswear aesthetic, translating his vision onto everything from two-piece suits to mini dresses and pencil skirts. While the clothes were unapologetically loud, their accessories provided an elusive air that only added to the glam – including headscarves, hoods and blacked-out sunglasses.

But it was the collaborations that made Preston’s show special, including a partnership with Instagram documentarian Nicolas Heller, “The unofficial talent scout of New York City”, on a NYC-focused film to accompany the collection. Hypebeasts will also notice the inclusion of his recent Air Max 720/95 shoe, while other pieces featured the work of one of his favourite artists, Robert Nava.
