Moby Announces 16th Album, Shares Big Beat-Infused Single "Power Is Taken" - 2 minutes read

Moby Announces New Album 'All Visible Objects'

Moby has announced his 16th studio album, All Visible Objects, set for release on March 6 via Mute. The electronic music pioneer commemorated the news with a new single and video titled “Power Is Taken,” which features Dead Kennedys drummer D.H. Peligro. Staying true to his emphasis on environment and animal welfare activism, Moby shared that all proceeds from the project will go directly to charity, with each track benefitting a different organization.

While Moby, the famed techno act who created “Porcelain” and “Natural Blues,” spent a large part of 2019 spewing outlandish remarks (recounting fabricated stories of dating Natalie Portman to sharing that he had once rubbed his penis on Donald Trump), it seems he’s taken a step back following the onslaught of criticism he received. In September he canceled his memoir’s book tour and noted that he was returning to the shadows, now returning with the announcement of what seems to be a promising project.

His latest track retains nostalgic sonic profiles that dig deep into his classic ’90s sound. Moving away from the more melancholic-laden, downtempo offerings of 2018’s Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt, “Power Is Taken” digs deep into his dance-focused armament of blaring synths and big beat basslines, making it a nightclub-ready dance anthem thats filled with a bold call to political action.
