Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

I’m a very defensive player, and I utilize a lot of backspin, and try to be pinpoint accurate with placement of the ball. What rubbers and blades would you recommend? I was looking and I like the Cypress T-Max S blade, and the Dignics 09C rubber. Any recommendation would be wonderful. Thank you.

This the Experts question was answered by Coach Jun Gao. She is the head coach at California Table Tennis in Rosemead, CA. Coach Gao’s response is as follows:

Hi Braydon,

If you are looking for a Japanese penhold blade, and as a defensive or control style player, I would not recommend too fast of a blade.

I suggest the Garaydia Revolver-R blade combined with Dignics 09C.

This combination will give you good control because Dignics 09C is a very sticky rubber and you can make great topspin and underspin.

 Thanks,

 Coach Gao
