Here's What Chris Talked About on CRN Digital Talk Radio's "What's Cookin' Today"!

I appeared on CRN Digital Talk Radio’s What’s Cookin’ Today show with Michael Horn and Debbie Barrera this morning!

We covered a bunch of different topics but mainly focused on credit cards. Here are the ones we discussed:

Good Welcome Bonus, relatively low annual fee ($95), and points can be transferred to more than a dozen hotel and airline partners.

Named ‘The Best Travel Card’ by CNBC in 2018, if that does anything for you. No annual fee the first year ($95 after that), a pretty nice Welcome Bonus, and a $100 Global Entry or TSA Pre√ credit. Earns two points per purchase, which isn’t amazing — but certainly better than the Delta Amexes.

I know many active military members and their spouses listen to CRN. Did you know that American Express will waive a card’s annual fee for you?

The Amex Gold earns 4X dining at restaurants worldwide and 4X at US supermarkets. Flights purchased directly with airlines or on AmexTravel.com earn 3X.

Plus, you receive a $10 monthly dining credit to Grubhub, Seamless, The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Boxed, and participating Shake Shack locations. (Just make sure you enroll in that benefit.)

No annual fee. Earn 3% cash back on every purchase, up to $20,000 spent the first year. That’ll net you about $600 back — before you stack with cash back apps and do everything else we recommend above. 😉 (Earn 1.5% back after meeting the spend threshold).

Another no annual fee card that offers a one-time $150 cash bonus once you spend $500 on purchases within three months of being approved. That’s an easy Welcome Bonus to meet. On top of that, earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase.

You’ll earn a $250 statement credit after you spend $1000 within three months of being approved.

The $95 annual fee is easily offset if you spend at least $1600 a year between U.S. supermarkets and streaming services.

How do you remember which credit card to use when? Get a package of these stickers from Amazon, stick them on your credit cards, and write down where to use them! (Gas station, supermarket, restaurant, etc)

Don’t fret about meeting minimum spend requirements. Here are more than a dozen ideas to help you get started!
