The shortest Wimbledon match for 15 years: Tomic beaten by Tsonga in just 58 minutes

Bernard Tomic crashed out of Wimbledon in humiliating fashion in the first round, rolling over to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to be eliminated from the tournament in less than one hour.

It took just 58-minutes for Tsonga to sweep Tomic aside, with fans once again starting to question whether the Australian even tried to compete.

Tsonga dominated the encounter, winning the match with a scoreboard reading 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 before walking off having hardly broken into sweat.

Tomic was seen wincing as the score was read aloud, before wiping his face on his white t-shirt, collecting his things and trudging off court.

Two years ago Tomic was fined more than £11,000 and dumped by his racket sponsor after saying in a press conference following a first-round loss to Mischa Zverev that he had felt bored during the match and had called the trainer when he was not injured.

After declining to answer several questions about his effort levels this time, putting his head in his hands at one point, Tomic said: 'I think I played as best as I could. It's just I played terrible.

'I played well last week. This week, tough first round. I knew if I didn't feel good, I'd lose this match quickly. We played so fast. It's not like we're going to have a lot of rallies out there.'

A follow up question in the post-match press conference saw one reporter ask Tomic whether he wished he had more consistency in his game, to which he simply replied: 'Not really.'
