Tenergy 19 Review by Coach Truong Tu Butterfly Table Tennis - 2 minutes read

Recently, I have had a chance to try the Lin Yun-Ju Super ZLC with Tenergy 19 and Tenergy 05.  I’ve played with this combination for about 5 hours – and I have been able to compare the new Tenergy 19 to the very popular Tenergy 05 on the same blade.

I began my review of Tenergy 19 by hitting flat balls. The Tenergy 19 feels softer than Tenergy 05, but the ball shoots out faster than then Tenergy 05, and with a loud and solid sound that reminds me of the speed glue era. Tenergy 19 is definitely good for blocking and punching which initially made me think it would not be good for spin.  I was completely wrong – compared to Tenergy 05, the Tenergy 19 definitely has more spin. The rubber allows me to grab the ball much better on both forehand and backhand loops; especially the close to the table backhand loop. When looping, Tenergy 19 has a higher trajectory and feels a bit slower than Tenergy 05 – due to its ability to grab the ball better.  Don’t consider that to be a negative – more dwell time on the rubber sheet provides great control for your loops. Even better, the spin that Tenergy 19 creates helps the ball accelerate when it lands on the opponent’s side.

Tenergy 19 comes with 3 type of thickness 1.7, 1.9, and 2.1.

Overall: Very good control in the short game. Great amount of spin for looping. Great feeling for serving. Exceptional for performing “banana flicks”.
