The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will launch its new programme called the ‘MCA Knowledge Centre’ to educate and train candidates for development of cricketing support staff in the city, officials said on Thursday.

The programmes will hand out ‘O’ certificates to beginners who are looking to pursue a career as a support staff required during a cricket match.

In its Level ‘O’ certification, the MCA will conduct various courses for anti-corruption liaison officers, curators, coaches, umpires, match observers, scorers, video analysts, physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches and masseurs.

MCA secretary, Ajinkya Naik said, “The MCA’s vision behind launching this programme is to provide world-class education and training for the development of cricketing support staff. It will help new faces entering the cricketing world to take up the profession in the coming years.”

Naik added, “The MCA wants to give equal opportunity to everyone and these courses will show them the path to take up various other courses. We have kept certain age criteria for all the courses and those who wish to apply can do so by going on our association’s website mumbaicricket.com.”

The MCA also informed that the candidates will be hired as interns during their summer vacation camps.

The MCA is seeking applications from interested candidates and the last date for submitting them is March 8, 2024. Since after Covid-19, the MCA has been offering various courses to help individuals in the future, especially if they want to apply for further courses done by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
