For those of you who are interested in getting started in woodworking, I am going to provide you with some useful tips that will help you get the most out of your woodworking projects.

First you need to find a place to set up shop. You want to make sure the area has good lighting and is well ventilated. A few places I recommend are a garage, shed, spare room, or a basement.

Once you have found a place to do all of your amazing projects, you need to invest in some good quality woodworking tools. Tools are not cheap, so only buy what you need at that time.

For beginners, here is a list of seven basic tools you will need to start out that will tackle quite a number of projects:

1) power drill

2) circular saw

3) table saw

4) miter saw

5) router

6) jigsaw

7) orbital sander.

A few other basic tools include screw drivers, hammer, a pair of saw horses, and even a tape measure. Of course, you can always add tools to your collection as you advance your woodworking skills.

Before deciding on your first woodworking project, there is some advice that will help you go a long way. Start off small. This is essential.

You need to get your feet wet first before taking on more complicated projects. Starting off small will also help teach you the basics.

Now decide on what you want your first woodworking project to be. Once you have made a decision, you can make a list of all the needed materials, amount and type of wood needed, and the required tools needed to complete this particular project.

This list will help you set a budget, so that mid-project you have not burned a hole through your pocket.

SAFETY. This is the first and most important rule of woodworking. Always wear safety equipment when woodworking, because you do not want to take any chances.

A few things you will need is hearing protection, safety glasses/goggles, dust mask/respirator, and some disposable gloves. It is also very important to avoid loose fitting clothes.

As the good saying goes, "practice makes perfect". Doing small projects over and over gives you the chance to utilize and practice new techniques, which will ultimately improve your woodworking skills.

Now that you have a few basic beginner woodworking tips, you are well on your way to becoming the woodworker you want to be.

Remember, it will take some time to get there, but with a little patience and dedication, you can become the skilled woodworker that you have always dreamed of.
