Snail Mail & Soccer Mommy covered Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” (watch)

Snail Mail is in Chicago for a set at this weekend’s Pitchfork Festival on Sunday (7/21), and she warmed up for it on Saturday night (7/20) with a festival aftershow at Thalia Hall. After playing a set heavy on material from her great debut album Lush, Snail Mail invited another Pitchfork Festival performer (from Friday) to the stage, Sophie Allison of Soccer Mommy, for an evening-closing cover of Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 City of Angels soundtrack hit, “Iris.” They did the song as a duo, joining their voices for beautiful vocal harmonies and backed only by Lindsey Jordan’s guitar (and the crowd audibly singing along). Watch fan-taken video of that song, and see Snail Mail’s entire aftershow setlist, below.

After Pitchfork Festival on Sunday, Snail Mail continues on a summer tour that includes dates with SASAMI and Duster. She’ll hit NYC soon for a pair of shows: Brooklyn Steel on July 31, which is sold out, and Webster Hall on August 1. SASAMI and Duster both open Webster Hall, and tickets are still on sale.
