Squash: Wee Wern regains national squash title

PETALING JAYA: Low Wee Wern regained the women's title she last won in 2014 after a hard fought battle against Rachel Arnold in the National Squash Championships at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil.  The former world No. 5, who is making a comeback after a knee injury that sidelined her for 20 months, beat Rachel 11-6, 7-11, 11-9, 11-3 in the final on Sunday (July 21). Rachel served out a huge upset by beating second seed and defending champion S. Sivasangari 11-9, 7-11, 15-13, 11-13, 11-3 while Wee Wern defeated Chan Yiwen 11-8 7-11 11-3 11-6 in the semi-finals on Saturday (July 20). 

Second seed Ivan Yuen dashed Ng Eain Yow's hopes of a maiden title win by winning the men's final in similar fashion.  Ivan beat top seeded Eain Yow, who is a former world junior champion, 11-7, 8-11, 12-10, 11-9.  Ivan bundled out Darren Rahul Pragasm 13-11, 11-9, 11-9 while Eain Yow pulled through with a 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 win over Addeen Idrakie in the semis.
