Restless sleepers hail £3 heated eye mask as a 'cure' to insomnia

Getting a good night's sleep is a serious struggle for many people, with countless hours spent tossing and turning.

But now, insomniacs are hailing a heated eye mask as the answer to a blissful rest - with some shoppers branding the product 'magical' and a 'life saver'.

Spacemasks, which cost £15 for a pack of five star-patterned masks, are infused with jasmine to help you nod off.

The fragrance is said to increase levels of the neurotransmitter GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), which helps control the nervous system, by more than five times, thus inducing sleep.

They have attracted rave reviews online, scoring a 4.4 out of five rating on Feelunique's web page - which sells single masks for £3.50.

One satisfied shopper said: 'They are lifesavers when you have a tension headache, need to relax or just want to switch off. They are my new favourite product.'

'These are my favourite product at the moment,' one mother enthused. 'They are so soothing and relaxing and send me to sleep. The jasmine smell is gorgeous.

'They have been a life saver during the first trimester of my pregnancy. I would use them daily if I could afford to, but definitely recommend them as a treat.'

Leaving a five-star review, one person added: ‘I love using space masks when I’m struggling to sleep! They are so relaxing.’

Another said: 'I am a serial space mask purchaser! I love them. I fall asleep before they have started to cool and I ALWAYS have an awesome nights sleep when I use them. They are a tad pricey but I still restock my stash regularly!'

'These are just fabulous. Not your ordinary eye masks. These are wonderful for just relaxing but if you suffer from insomnia, migraines, headaches they are like magic,' another enthusiastic reviewer said.

Promising to 'transport you away', the masks claim to offer ‘interstellar relaxation’ immediately after coming into contact with your skin.

The heating process for the masks work by a 'thin layer of iron filings entwining with the oxygen molecules in the air,' according to the brand's website.

'The ever so relaxing jasmine is in a low concentration. So you can enjoy its fragrance without irritating the skin.'

However, the product wasn't for everyone with some complaining they didn't like the feel of the heat around their eyes and became too sweaty.
