Tom Hiddleston touches down in New York alongside theatre producer friend Emily Vaughan-Barratt

Tom Hiddleston was seen arriving in New York City on Tuesday.

The British star, 38, touched down at JFK airport alongside his theatre producer friend Emily Vaughan-Barratt, with the two chatting animatedly as they made their way out of the Arrivals terminal.

The Night Manager star dressed casually for his travels, in a navy sweater, despite arriving to baking heat in The Big Apple.

He teamed this with jeans and smart loafers, a backpack latched onto his back.

His travel companion Emily - who produced Tom's play earlier in the year for Pinter At The Pinter in London's West End - wore a dotted dress and trainers, with a denim jacket slung over her arm.

She tied her brunette locks into a loose bun atop her head.

The pair were notably seen together in April, after Tom presented the award for Best Actress at the Olivier Awards alongside his Betrayal co-stars Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox.

He was spied trying to leave the event held at the Royal Albert Hall unnoticed alongside Emily.

But there's no suggestion of anything going on between the pair, other than being pals, in and out of work.

The Avengers actor received rave reviews for his run in the Pinter play, Betrayal, which follows a seven-year extramarital affair between two characters, Emma and Jerry, with the latter character being Emma's husband Robert's friend.

Betrayal was inspired by Pinter's secret relationship with Joan Bakewell during the 1960s.

Tom played Robert in the play for The Jamie Lloyd Company's Harold Pinter season, which marked ten years since the scribe's death in 2008, with Betrayal the finale in the star-studded performances of all his short plays.

Later that month, Tom was back in the spotlight in the ultra-successful Avengers: Endgame, as Loki - a character for which there is a limited TV series spin-off currently in development.

At the weekend, Tom joined pal and fellow thesp Benedict Cumberbatch to watch the Wimbledon for the epic four hour and 57 minute 2019 Men's Final, which saw titans Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer battle it out for the championship.

Both Tom and Benedict looked typically suave in the stands as they watched Djokovic scoop his 16th Grand Slam over rival Federer, closing another summer at Wimbledon in the process.
