Watch: Retrial begins for former Mesquite cop who shot man he mistook for a car thief

Body camera video from the incident shows Jones was shirtless and unarmed when Wiley pointed a gun at him and told him to get out of the truck and onto the wet asphalt.

Jones complied, but soon twisted away and ran a few steps, falling again when Wiley shot twice, hitting him in the back.

"All he wanted to do was get away from this unreasonable officer who was out of control that night," prosecutor Bryan Mitchell told the jury. "This is the case of a reckless police officer who from the minute he showed up was hellbent on violence."
