Samsung has introduced the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 at its Unpacked event in Seoul yesterday, so you can put the rumors to rest. Galaxy Z Flip 5 preorders are open right now, and you'll have the device in your hands in time for the August 11 release date. Keep reading for more information on the new foldable and how to get the best Z Flip 5 deal from your preorder options available at launch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 preorder deals

Ok, it's fairly straightforward as far as options go on launch day. Samsung will offer you up to $900 off the Z Flip 5 when you trade in your old phone. As with any trade-in incentive, it's always worth shopping around at your local trade-in outlet, just in case you can get a better amount.

As we've seen with other Samsung phone launches lately, preordering will get you the next storage capacity size up at no extra cost. So you'll get the 512GB model, for the same price as the 256GB one. So you should avoid the 256GB model unless you're getting a discount during the preorder phase.

Samsung is also offering even more discounts if you bundle your purchase with a Galaxy Tab S9 or Samsung Galaxy Watch 6. You can also save 30% on Samsung Care+ for a bit of extra peace of mind on your pricey investment, and you'll be protected against drops, spills, and mechanical failures.

As for other retailers, BestBuy is also offering up to $1000 off with a trade-in. To sweeten the pot further, it's also throwing in a $100 Best Buy gift card. So we'd check out which store is going to offer more for your old phone and pick one of those.

Amazon now has the Flip 5 up for preorder. There's no trade-in incentive, which is fine if you don't have a decent old phone to get rid of. Buying from Amazon will get you a nice $150 Amazon gift card, and you'll also get the free storage upgrade seen elsewhere.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 price

You can preorder your Galaxy Z Flip 5 today in Mint, Graphite, Cream, and Lavender, plus Samsung.com-exclusive shades of Blue, Gray, Green, and Yellow. The Z Flip 5 starts at $999.99 for the 256GB model. If you don't delay, you'll get a free storage upgrade to 512GB for a limited time, not to mention the best chance to receive your shipment precisely on its August 11 release date.

If you're thinking of buying the phone outright and want to save some serious cash on your monthly plan for data and minutes, then you really should check out the world of MVNOs with short-term rolling contracts and prices that make the likes of Verizon and T-Mobile look ridiculous. Mint and Visibile would be our top recommendations to consider. Check out the details in our guides to the best Minit Mobile deals and best deals on Visible phone plans.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 release date

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be released soon on August 11, 2023. Preorders are open now though and during this phase you'd be wise to take advantage of the aforementioned free storage upgrade as that offer will likely expire after the phone hits the streets. The trade-in incentives might remain, but sometimes we see the rates drop after the pre-order phase.

What's new with the Z Flip 5?

The redesigned cover display is the main draw on this year's model and an ideal opportunity to jump into Samsung's world of flip phones for the first time. It's also a tempting incentive for owners of older Flip models to upgrade. The outer Flex Window (as Samsung likes to call the outer cover display) has stretched from 1.9 inches to 3.4 inches, giving so many more apps room to breathe.

The extra room facilitates fun new possibilities, such as expanded widgets, gestures, and new clock styles that can match the watch face you use on the new Galaxy Watch 6. The bigger screen is helpful for previewing selfies using the main 12MP wide-angle camera, which also picks up AI-powered image processing improvements for low-light noise control. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, newer and faster than the previous model's Gen 1 chipset, powers everything behind the scenes.

Like the Galaxy Z Fold 5 it's launching beside, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 introduces an improved Flex Hinge that enables a slightly slimmer build with no gap when closed and better withstands beatings from accidental drops. It'll have compatibility with a new range of Flipsuit cases that use NFC to change your device's digital aesthetic based on the case's color.
