World Cup: New Zealand v Afghanistan - clips, radio & text - 2 minutes read

New Zealand captain Tom Latham: "It was a pleasing start and a great performance. We were under pressure at times with the bat but the way we overcame that and put pressure back on them in the last 10 was outstanding.

"The bowlers then set the tone in the first 10 overs, we kept taking wickets and finished it off pretty quickly at the end."

On his partnership with Glenn Phillips: "We had lost three wickets for not very many so we both regrouped and built a partnership together. We took it nice and deep and were able to put our foot down a little bit. It was a fantastic innings from Glenn and it took the pressure off me a little bit."

On the bowling performance: "The seamers set the tone at the top, then Mitchell Santner came in to do his thing, with others chipping in to give us a bit of momentum. So pleasing all round."

On their next match against India: "We go there on the back of some very good performances. We have played some good cricket. We have another great challenge coming up in India and then Australia, but let's hope the momentum can continue."
