'ICC won't be happy after India's loss against Kiwis'

Jadeja's heroics were not enough to take Men in Blue over the line in World Cup semi

Former New Zealand cricket captain-turned-commentator Jeremy Coney has claimed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) won’t be pleased with India’s loss against New Zealand in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

According to a sports journalist Saj Sadiq, Coney said that the governing body of cricket would have preferred India and England in the final of the mega event.

"I don't think ICC will be happy that New Zealand have beaten India" Coney is reported to have said on Radio Sport.

Earlier, Coney had also criticized the pitch used for the semi-final between India and New Zealand, calling it sticky and slow which made timing difficult due to the erratic bounce.

The Black caps stunned India to reach their second successive World Cup final as they survived all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's late heroics to clinch a thrilling 18-run win at Old Trafford.
