Tokyo 2020 Table Tennis Seeding - 2 minutes read

The ITTF released the Olympic seedings last week.  In Men’s Singles, the top ten seeds will be Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Tomokazu Harimoto, Hugo Calderano, Lin Yun-Ju, Mattias Falck, Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Timo Boll, Woojin Jang, and Youngsik Jeoung.  Included in the top ten are two Chinese, two Germans, and two Koreans.


Kanak Jha is the top seeded American at No. 21.  Nikhil Kumar is the second US participant at No. 55.  Puerto Rico’s Brian Afanador is at No. 48, and Canada’s Jeremy Hazin is at No. 54.


In Women’s Singles, the top ten seeds are Chen Meng, Sun Yingsha, Mima Ito, Cheng I-Ching, Kasumi Ishikawa, Tianwei Feng, Jihee Jeon, Hoi Kem Doo, Adriana Diaz, and Sofia Polcanova.  USA’s Lily Zhang is at No. 18, and Liu Juan is at No. 68.


The Men’s Teams seedings have China then Germany, then Japan.  Korea, Sweden, and Brazil are the next three.  The Women’s Teams seedings are China, Japan and Germany as the top three.  The next three are Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, and Singapore.  The TeamUSA men are seeded 14th and the women are seeded 9th.
