After the 7th men’s Masters event concluded today, the sixth different winner was crowned.  The winner today – Anton Kallberg of Sweden.

The Dusseldorf Masters series have been held in June and July.  This is the eighth event overall (y were men’s events and 1 was a female event).  The top two seeds were both dispersed by Kallberg along the way – he defeated top seed Omar Assar 4-1 in the Semifinal and then overcame Benedict Duda 4-3 in the Final.

The most interesting story of the week was the play of Cedric Meissner.  Meissner opened the event off with a win over Belgium’s Cedric Nuytinck 4-1.  And he followed that up with a 4-2 win over Tobias Hippler, before falling to Duda in the Semis 4-1.  Meissner is a 20 year old 2nd Division player in the German Professional League.  The Dusseldorf events have been including younger players in the mix, and those players have not been sleeping on the opportunity.  Meissner is the latest in a line of promising, young players adding great depth to an already strong German contingent.
