Tennis fans slam Channel Seven for airing Nick Kyrgios' Wimbledon match INSTEAD of Ash Barty's game
Tennis fans have slammed Channel Seven for airing Nick Kyrgios' Wimbledon match instead of world number one Ash Barty.
The 'disgraceful' lack of coverage of Barty's first round game at Wimbledon against China's Zheng Saisai was called out as Australia's 'spoilt brat' by furious fans.
The took to social media in droves, calling out the network because they 'stayed up' to watch Barty in action.
' why are you putting Kyrgios on? It's a joke! Ash Barty! Have you heard of her?' one person wrote.
'So why is Nick Kyrgios currently on and we are getting ''updates'' on Ash Barty?? It's a complete disgrace - she's Number 1 in the world!! Would never happen if Federer or an Australian male was Number 1!' another commented.
'Genuine question: Why is Channel 7 (7Two) broadcasting Nick Kyrgios - the world's Number Whatever male player - when at the very same time Ash Barty - the world Number 1 female player - also an Australian - is playing? Seven, there is something seriously wrong with your judgement,' another person wrote.
'I can't get to the TV ... lots of tweets about Nick the Twit being shown rather than Barty. Can someone just give me a score update on Barty's match please #Barty #Kyrgios,' yet another said.
'What a disgrace that we are watching the spoilt brat Kyrgios play tennis at Wimbledon whilst the world number 1 woman Ash Barty who is Australian is playing at the same time,' another comment read.
'Are you serious ? People have stayed up to watch Barty not Kyrgios?' another wrote.
'So instead of having a brain and showing Kyrgios and Barty on different channels they'll do a half baked job and cut between the two...,' someone else wrote.
Barty's first round saw her win a straight-sets victory over Saisai, securing her spot in the second round of Wimbledon.
Kyrgios also came out on top in an intense, five-set with fellow Australian and Davis Cup teammate Jordan Thompson.
