Cloud Gaming + Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch will be introduced in the realm of cloud gaming. Cloud gaming is “the idea that video games can be streamed from remote internet servers rather than run on a local console and therefore be portable devices that can be carried anywhere you go”. When Nintendo executives were asked about their thoughts on cloud gaming, they agreed on the potential for the gaming industry to switch over to cloud gaming and wholeheartedly admitted that Nintendo “must keep up as well.”. Nintendo director Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong) agrees that cloud gaming will expand in the future, but does not think that cloud gaming would replace consoles like the Nintendo Switch. Cassette players are back! But this time via bluetooth. The Ninm It’s OK is the first bluetooth 5.0 portable cassette player. One would question why is a product like this being reinvented after 40 years? Products like Polaroid and Ninm It’s OK are targeted for the millenials or people who have an interest in vintage or retro products. Surprisingly, products like these “went up almost 19% year over year in 2018”. “Ninm is selling the It’s OK for an early Kickstarter price of $75, in either pink, white, or navy blue colors”. So would you carry around a retro cassette player?

5G, the next generation of wireless technology is the real deal! It will allow you to connect to all sorts of devices around you, from street lamps to self-driving cars,  download huge files including big games and videos in a flash and enable new features such as VR experiences. Due to the hype for 5G, carriers want to add an additional charge to your mobile bill. CNET tested the 5G service “encompassing four countries, 11 cities, and seven carriers, found a mixed bag of incredible speeds and wildly inconsistent coverage”.  Looks like the introduction of 5G, will be a bumpy ride for the technology to be proper and stable for both consumers and carriers.
