A ‘Final Fantasy’ Live-Action TV Show Is in the Works!

The iconic video game franchise is being turned into a live-action series from Square Enix, Sony Pictures and Hivemind, according to THR on Thursday (June 27).

The upcoming show will “center on an original story set in the world of Eorzea, first introduced in the online game Final Fantasy XIV.”

The series promises to include characters and elements from the entire Final Fantasy franchise’s over three dozen titles, and will explore “the struggle between magic and technology in a quest to bring peace to a land in conflict.”

“Magic, airships and, of course, Chocobos, will all be included in the upcoming series,” the report adds, as well as “familiar faces and names from the series (including a version of Cid, the name of a character in nearly every Final Fantasy project).”

This will mark the first-ever live-action adaptation of the series, which first debuted in 1987.
